Activities Calendar
Next EAA 26 Meeting:     Thursday, 14 May 2009
Program:       Christopher Lum, son of EAA 26 Member Matt Lum, will present a doctorate thesis on "Coordinated Searching and Target Identification Using Teams of Autonomomous Agents"
Abstract:
Many modern autonomous systems actually require significant human involvement. Often, the amount of human support and infrastructure required for these autonomous systems
exceeds that of their manned counterparts. This work involves increasing both the tactical and strategic decision making capabilities of various autonomous systems. The application
considered is the problem of searching for targets using a team of heterogeneous agents. The system maintains a grid-based world model which contains information about the probability
of a target being located in any given cell of the map. Agents formulate control decisions for a fixed number of time steps using a modular algorithm that allows for capabilities
and characteristics of individual agents to be encoded in several parameters. The resulting search patterns executed by the agents guarantee an exhaustive search of the map in the
sense that all cells will be searched sufficiently to ensure that the probability of a target being located in any given cell is driven to zero. This system was simulated using high
fidelity simulations with heterogeneous agents in complex and dynamic environments. After performing successfully in simulation, these algorithms were then verified and validated
on a distributed human-in-the-loop simulator. This system allows a human operator to handle low level tasks such as state stabilization and signal tracking while preserving the
contributions of the autonomous algorithm. Finally, flight test results are presented showing the benefits of augmenting a human system with these types of autonomous algorithms.

Barracuda Project For Sale
For those unfamiliar with the Barracuda, it is a plans built aircraft designed by local a Boeing engineer, Jeff Siers. It won an award for best new design at Oshkosh back around 1976. The plane is an all wood, 2 place, low wing, high performance airplane.  My website is at http://members.aol.com/flybarracuda.  You can see some pictures of the project there. The plane’s airframe is almost completely finished. The new owner would need to finish the flap, the fuel system, wire and plumb the aircraft, and finish all firewall forward.  I do have the glass for the canopy and windshield along with fiberglass cowling parts. There is an engine mount already on the plane and it is set up for the recommended O-540 engine. Please let me know if you have any questions.  I am asking $6000 for it.

I would like to sell it to a local EAA member.  It is located in my garage in Enumclaw.

1958 Colonial Skimmer Lake amphibian For Sale
Precursor to the famous Lake LA-4 and Lake Buccaneer amphibious airplane series. Though type certificated, this particular Skimmer is in the experimental category. The engine has low time. The radio panel is adequate but minimal. The main gear wheel hubs, nose gear strut and all hydraulics have been totally overhauled, The plane is intact and has all AD's complied with (I think). I estimate that it will take between 8k and 20k to make the plane properly airworthy. It may be "gear-locked-down" ferryable to other airports for less that 1K. The actual expenses will depend on the amount of work that is hired out. The plane is located at Boeing Field in Seattle.

The airplane itself is a wonderful, very economical to fly, three place machine. It has excellent performance and burns about nine gallons/hour at 65-70 percent cruise power. It is actually a rather rare bird ... one of only a handful still in flyable or restorable condition.

There is a lot more information about this plane, other Skimmers and my experiences flying it at:   www.reputableman.com

I am asking $36,500        Thank you for your interest,            Craig  ... 206-498-9447
